Find Your Enrollment Invitation

Look out for an enrollment email from OTIP (our benefits administrator) sent to your school board email address. Follow the steps outlined in the email. When you’re signing up yourself and eligible family members online, any premium costs you need to pay will be clearly displayed. If you do not receive an enrolment email within 3-4 weeks of meeting your eligibility criteria, please contact OTIP.

Missed the Enrollment Deadline?

If you don’t sign up within the 31-day window, you’ll be considered a “late applicant” when you do enroll. This means:

  • You, your spouse, and dependent children (if applicable) must complete a medical questionnaire for approval by Canada Life.
  • Canada Life may request additional information and reserves the right to decline health coverage.

If you’re approved as a late applicant, your coverage starts from the date of Canada Life’s approval. Note that dental coverage for late applicants is effective the date you apply for benefits and is limited to a maximum of $200 per person in the first twelve (12) months of coverage.

Future Enrollment Opportunities

Increase in Funding?

The CUPE EWBT shares in the cost of your benefits depending on the number of hours you regularly work per week. If you’re working less than 15 hours per week today, and your hours increase so that the CUPE EWBT would pay a greater portion of the premium cost, you’ll have another chance to sign up for the plan. You’ll receive an invitation email from OTIP, and have 31 days to enroll.

Casual/Temporary Employees

If you’re eligible but decide not to enroll now, you can enroll when becoming permanent. Contact OTIP to complete your enrollment within 31 days of becoming permanent.
