How MemberRx supports plan members and their loved ones
At the beginning of last year, the MemberRx pharmacy team began optionally serving CUPE EWBT members requiring certain specialty medications to manage complex health needs.
Starting May 1, 2026, certain pre‑authorized specialty medications will need to be filled through MemberRx. If you or an eligible family member are currently using one of these medications, you’ll be asked to transfer your prescription to MemberRx by November 30, 2026, to continue your coverage. We’ll be sharing more information soon, and anyone affected will be contacted directly to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
A focus on complex health needs
Specialty medications are prescribed to treat chronic, complex and/or rare conditions and often require special handling and ongoing patient support.
The MemberRx pharmacy team provides personalized, compassionate service with expert pharmacists who take the time to understand each patient’s unique health concerns and help them achieve the best possible outcomes through their medication(s).
In a recent survey, MemberRx patients shared their overall satisfaction with the high quality of care they receive from the pharmacy.
“The pharmacist I talked to was so incredibly kind and listened to my concerns and gave a very knowledgeable answer. I love how kind and caring the team is! You’re all doing great! Thanks for all that you do.”

“They are courteous and very patient while answering all of my questions. This whole process works perfectly from start to finish. They are very caring individuals who take pride in their work.”

What makes MemberRx different
The pharmacy opened in June 2023 and today supports over 5,000 patients, delivering specialty medications to benefit plan members and their eligible family members across Ontario.
The pharmacy works closely with patients to meet their delivery and dispensing needs, and all prescriptions filled by MemberRx are delivered to patients free of charge.
The MemberRx pharmacy model minimizes the cost of dispensing expensive specialty medications by offering lower mark-ups and using cost-effective drug-dispensing practices – directly creating savings for our plan.
The EWBT receives fixed funding from the provincial government to deliver health, dental and life benefits to you and your family. By prioritizing patient care over profits, MemberRx ensures members managing complex health needs get the support they need, while also delivering savings to our benefits plan to strengthen your overall coverage.
The MemberRx pharmacist team’s sole focus is on providing the highest quality patient experience and health outcomes for every patient they serve.

Menopause support: Nutrition and supplements for better energy, mood and sleep
Menopause and perimenopause are natural stages of life that bring hormonal changes affecting energy, mood, sleep, and overall well-being. While each woman’s experience is unique, nutrition and targeted supplements can play a key role in supporting hormone balance and easing common symptoms like hot flashes, fatigue, and mood swings.
What you can do
1. Prioritize whole‑food nutrition
Balanced, whole‑food meals are one of the easiest ways to support hormone health and emotional balance. Include:
- Magnesium‑rich foods (leafy greens, nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, soy products) to help with mood and sleep.
- Phytoestrogens (tofu, tempeh, edamame, flaxseeds, chickpeas, lentils) to ease hot flashes and support bone health.
- Protein (beans, lentils, fish, poultry, eggs) to stabilize energy and maintain muscle.
- Healthy fats (avocados, nuts, seeds, fatty fish) to reduce inflammation and support brain function.
2. Consider supplements when needed
Supplements can help fill nutritional gaps when food alone isn’t enough. Common options include:
- Vitamin D + calcium for bone health
- Magnesium for mood and sleep
- Omega‑3s for inflammation
Always speak with a health-care professional before starting new supplements.
3. Pair nutrition with supportive habits
- Move regularly: short walks, light resistance exercises, gentle stretching
- Reduce stress: 4‑7‑8 breathing, journaling or stepping outside for a mindful break
